After finally dropping a game in Chicago against the Bulls the Miami Heat returned to their winning ways with a victory over the lowly New Orleans Hornets 108-89. The win puts Miami at 27-1 over their last 28 games so we’ll just have to deal with it.

LeBron James was in fine form, scoring 36 points at one time knocking back six straight three-point shots. And here I was thinking Ray Allen was the three-point guy on this team. Guess I was wrong. As usual James took it pretty much in stride. “It was one of those nights, so I just kept it going,we had a three-on-one break and Mike passed to me, and I stopped for a 3. I hadn’t done that probably since high school or the early years with Cleveland. I felt good. Just tried to keep the Heat wave going.”

It was also a sort of milestone in another sense as the Heat also managed to secure a lock on the top spot in the Eastern Conference, assuring themselves home court advantage, which is huge when it comes to American Airline Arena. So far, everything is on track for Miami to get another shot at an NBA Championship.

In all, this was a kind of a ho hum game that never seriously saw any chance by the Hornets. What’s coming though, is a huge game that will severely test the dominance of Miami on an opposing team’s court. The showdown in San Antonio between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs is going to provide plenty of room for speculation by NBA pundits regardless of which team comes out on top. Get ready Heat fans. The litmus test is coming.
